Dear Nelson Avenue Family,
As you may have heard over the past number of months, our church council has been discussing a role of Commissioned Pastor (CP) of Faith Formation.  During our last meeting, the council approved moving forward with this endeavor, and council would like to present this to the congregation for endorsement.  To enable us to move forward, council has also prepared and approved a role description for the position.
This position is developed with the intent of it being filled by Angela Elliot in recognition of her calling and gifts for this ministry, and approval from Classis to serve as Commissioned Pastor in this ministry.   
Angela Elliot completed the LDN ( leadership development Network) studies 2 years ago, and during this time she felt God calling her to a more formal ministry at NACC. After much discernment about this calling, Angela Elliot requested council to consider for her to become a CP of faith formation at NACC. Council has spent the last year exploring, discerning, praying about this request, discussing what this means for NACC and Angela Elliot. Angela has a deep desire to meet people where they at and encourage them to grow in their faith.
In the mean time Angela co chaired the Faith Formation cohort, became ministry leader of the new Faith Formation ministry and is currently serving as a Pastoral intern.  Through these roles Angela has demonstrated her gifts in these areas of ministry.  Angela’s service among us as a CP of Faith Formation would be a positive benefit for NACC.  In creating this position, we recognize and affirm Angela’s call and giftedness in these areas.

We see Angela’s gifts as complementing, supporting and strengthening the ministry carried out by Pastor Jo. As CP of Faith Formation, Angela would focus on the faith journey of all, from young and old, encouraging, guiding, teaching, educating, and preaching faith processes to guide all to become more Christ like for the sake of others.  As a CP Angela will have the authority to preach the Word, baptize, and bless the congregation, and to be recognized as a commissioned pastor by the denomination and all who come in contact with her.
Angela would carry out this role on a voluntary basis, with no income, except some reimbursement for expenses incurred in the position. ( eg. Parking at hospitals, etc..) Or join us on Jun 3 after the morning service to ask questions, give us feedback or to learn more.
