Not everyone loves the church.
Not every Christian believer loves the Church.
In fact, there are time when I, even though I am a pastor, do not always love the church.
But there are times when I sense a deep love and affection for the church--sometimes for the instituion but especially for the people.
And one of those times is when I hear the voice of people singing songs of praise and worship.
It is one of the things I love about the church I serve: peoeple sing, I can hear their voices on a Sunday morning.
And it is a beautiful sound.
And when I hear the voices of others around me in a worship services singing songs then I too want to sing. It is what singing does--it is contagious and rubs off on others.
So I give much thanks for song and music in the church and for one of the greatest sounds of all: the voices of God's people raised together in song.
"And they sang a new song, saying: “You are worthy to take the scroll and to open its seals, because you were slain, and with your blood you purchased for God persons from every tribe and language and people and nation. You have made them to be a kingdom and priests to serve our God, and they will reign on the earth.” (Revleation 5:9-10).
