I saw the Van Gogh Interactive Exhibit in Vancouver this past Sunday evening. Very interesting and very moving (in more ways than one!). Van Gogh was so brilliant and yet also lived such a difficult and tragic life. One thing I realized was the importance of artists for the world as well as for the church community--artists help us see things we do not normally see (or take the time to see), artists help us see God's creation more fully.
Here are some quotes from Vincent Van Gogh:
"Love many things, for therein lies the true strength, and whosoever loves much performs much, and can accomplish much, and what is done in love is done well."
"If you truly love Nature, you will find beauty everywhere."
"Great things are done by a series of small things brought together."
"I feel that there is nothing more truly artistic than to love people."
"I dream of painting and then I paint my dream."
"I put my heart and my soul into my work, and have lost my mind in the process."
"The best way to know God is to love many things."
"There is no blue without yellow and without orange."
