I believe that we should pray and that we should pray a lot.
The Bible calls us to "pray continually" (1 Thessalonians 5:17). The Gospels portray Jesus as one much in prayer. The description of the early church shows us a church much in prayer.
Let us pray and pray much.
I have come to realize that I do not pray as much as I want to nor as much as the Father longs me to. I have many good intentions (even resolutions!) for more prayer but those intentions are not always met.
I have come to realize that God is not hampered by my lack of prayer. He continues to work and do his good pleasure even when I am not praying. And this expands his grace and his glory because there are many times when I do not pray but He is still answering my unprayed prayers and longings.
For example, I do not always pray that God will keep me safe while traveling but His hand of mercy is so often on me. I do not always for God's blessings on various events in my life but so often God is blessing and giving grace beyond my asking.
I thank God for being so good that He answers the prayers I never pray.
